About this Event

Speakers Bio

Frank Caul , Co-Founder at RemoteHVAC and despite insisting to whomever will listen that he is fully retired, he continues to be instrumental in guiding the technological development of the Building Performance Monitoring software. He has over forty years experience in the heating ventilation and air conditioning business, and began his career as a Refrigeration Apprentice and spent many years in the Commissioning Department of HA O’Neill’s before departing to Saudi Arabia as an HVAC Engineer. On his return to Ireland in the mid-eighties opportunities for employment were thin on the ground so Frank started his own company, which went on to become Sirus Group employing more than 100 people across Ireland. Sirus was acquired by the international building controls company Sauter AG in 2018.

On a sunny evening with a gentle breeze in the air he will most likely be found sailing the high seas of Cork Harbour.

Tony O’Keeffe , Managing Director, RemoteHVAC , a software platform providing building performance monitoring for cost saving and sustainability. With more than 10 years of Energy and Project Management experience, he is obsessed with finding ways to analyse and improve the operational performance of the built environment. His industry experience includes optimising HVAC and Controls systems, equipment upgrades for energy efficiency and Energy Performance Contracts; one of which received the 2013 SEAI Energy Award in the Small Business Category. This experience has come to fruition with his current role in product design and business development for RemoteHVAC.

Outside of buildings, not in a literal sense, he can normally be found chasing after his sons Fionn and Oisín. He is kept relatively sane by Claire, his Clinical Psychologist wife, and on the rarest of occasions he finds time to run, cycle and swing a golf club...never concurrently.

Tony’s educational experience includes an MBA from Trinity College Dublin Business School, an MSc in Energy Management from Dublin Institute of Technology and a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from Cork Institute of Technology.

Presentation Objective

The objective of this presentation is to demonstrate the key benefits of building performance monitoring and its effective use to achieve comfortable, healthy and sustainable buildings. Performance monitoring and management can;

● Improve the health, well-being and productivity of occupants

● Reduce operating costs and increased energy efficiency

● Enhance the value and attractiveness of the building asset

● Achieve proactive and efficient HVAC maintenance

● Help bridge the gap between operating and design performance

● Provide essential data for sustainability reporting such as LEED and BREEAM.

Learning outcomes:

1. Demonstrate how automated analysis of BMS data and other building data can help move from reactive to a more proactive, evidence based and data driven approach to building management and operations.

2. Demonstrate how performance monitoring and data analysis of the building and its HVAC systems can provide opportunities for optimisation.

3. Provide a practical insight into how a standard commercial building can be transformed into a smart, connected and more sustainable building.

This presentation will be of interest to Building Managers, Facility Design & Maintenance Engineers, Engineering Consultants, Installing Contractors, Engineering Students and their Lecturers.

This event qualifies for 1.5hrs CPD.
