Beginning with a heavily percussive and tribal groove, the horns weave through solos, building and stretching the energy to its limits. Just catch one of their upcoming performances in the New York City area and see for yourself!
With a career spanning multiple genres, labels, cities and even continents, Joseph King’s music defines a decade-long journey of love, heartbreak, and reckless discovery. The prolific singer, songwriter and former front man of two successful bands–Deadbeat Darling and Canvas—now steps into the limelight with his unique 60’s surf rock meets modern indie sound, and the launch of his debut solo EP, Wanderlusting (March 2014 on RockArmy Records).”Joseph is a great pop songwriter who focuses on the here and now in New York… He thrives on doing what he does best and leaving it at that. He crafts catchy pop songs with effective, simple arrangements… And I gotta say, he really nails it.” ~ Johnny Zachman, doNYC
“Joseph King’s solo album “Wanderlusting” is a stripped down, lo-fi affair with a vintage feel to it. This little step towards minimalism serves to highlight Joseph’s passion and charm as a songwriter in a big way.” ~ Loris Lowe, DJ KGSR and KLBJ (Austin, TX)
“A raw, powerful voice that combines the warmth, grit and passion of Jeff Buckley and a young Rod Stewart.”
Based in Brooklyn, nicøle has spent the last year frequenting various stages throughout the New York boroughs, backed by an unassuming band whose resume boasts an extensive who’s who of soul and funk artists.
With an album in the works, nicøle’s sound features a collection of songs co-written with bandmate, Colin Brown, stemming from a mutual admiration for classic soul era luminaries and production methods as well as modern sounds and songwriting.
Pancakes and Whiskey recently wrote:
“their knowledge of music is what the music scene needs right now. [nicøle’s] creative vision shone bright as they performed some funky, dance-y tunes as well as bluesy ballads that people were able to get excited about and any music junkie would appreciate.”
