HH Karmapa: Joining Heart and Mind: Creating a Compassionate World
Event Information
Description
An evening talk with His Holiness the 17th Karmapa.
"Compassion is the key force motivating our work to change ourselves and the world. We need practical guidance on strengthening compassion so that it moves us to create and seize opportunities to act. Given the enormity of the goal of creating a healthy planet and society, the qualities of courage and joy need to be cultivated to sustain our compassion on the long road that lies ahead. To do this, we must base our lives fully in our noble heart—not just to prevent caretaker and activist burnout, but in order to create a meaningful and happy life for ourselves and others."
All proceeds for this event will go to the Karmapa Foundation in support of His Holiness the Karmapa’s visit to America. Other events are listed at karmapaamerica2015.org
Our highest priced $1,000 tickets offer the added benefit of a rupa blessed by His Holiness and an audience/blessing line in a private setting before the talk. At that blessing you will have the opportunity to be introduced to His Holiness and have a few words with him. The rupa will be blessed and handed to you by him. Information on this will be provided by email directly to you.
The three-inch rupas that His Holiness will bless and offer are all "lost wax castings,” made in Nepal by a Newari craftsman. They represent the five buddha families and are called "pancha buddha families." Their mudras signify vajra, ratna, padma, amogasidddi and vairocana. Newari craftsmen have been making rupas for over a thousand years in Nepal. They are known as great artisans and their craft is passed down from generation to generation.
