About this Event
Hey Neighbor!” is an applied theatre project with Interfaith Coalition of Brooklyn. With this multi-religious, multi-cultural, intergenerational group of participants, we will use theatrical forms like storytelling, role-work, and playbuilding to explore conversations about identity, relationships, community, and empathy- building. Facilitated by Zeynep Akca, Courtney M. McClellan, and Jenny Hipscher (MA in Applied Theatre candidates at the CUNY School of Professional Studies).
Adult participants of all ages (16 and up) are encouraged to register. Families are welcome. No theatre experience is required or necessary.
The schedule is as follows:
- Jan 11th (Mon, 7:30pm-9:30pm) - Community-building Opening Session
- Jan 14th (Thurs, 7:30pm-9:30pm) - Conversations by Member Organization
- Jan 18th (Mon, 7:30pm-9:30pm) - Conversations by Identity: Generation (Baby Boomer, X, Millennial),Gender identity,Racial/Ethnic identity
- Jan 28th (Thurs, 7:30pm-9:30pm) - Conversations by Theme: Body, Language, Empathy
- Feb 1st (Mon, 7pm - EXTENDED LENGTH/END TIME TBD) - Communal Creation Session
- Feb 11th (Thurs, 7:30pm-9:30pm) - Community Sharing
- Feb 15th (Mon, 7:30pm-9:30pm)* - Community Reflection & Debrief
*The Feb 15th reflection and debrief session will be reserved for those who have attended any of the previous sessions.
Each date can be attended as a stand-alone session and can be attended separately.
