THE 2023 HEROES OF HYC
Helpline Youth Counseling's "Heroes of HYC" honors outstanding thought leaders who impact our community through service, support, and charity. All event proceeds raised will support HYC's services improving the quality of life for low-income, at-risk children and youth and their family members in Southeast Los Angeles County and Long Beach, including behavioral health (mental health and substance use disorder) counseling, child abuse prevention and intervention, domestic violence education and counseling, and youth leadership development.
We are excited to present this year's Heroes of HYC:
HYC Visionary Hero
Bruce Lazenby | Executive Director of Business Development, Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuaries
Bruce has represented Rose Hills for decades ensuring that the community is supported in so many ways, especially with Veterans.
HYC Community Hero
Jose Osuna | Housing Justice Manager, Brilliant Corners
Jose advocates for community members in Long Beach, as well as the greater Los Angeles County, that are re-entering from jail and prison to be able to access affordable housing and be connected to essential resources to prevent them from becoming homeless as they begin a new chapter in their lives.
HYC Health Hero
PIH Health, INC
PIH provides health services and continuum of care to our community as well as support to agencies throughout Southeast Los Angeles County including HYC. PIH is excited to spotlight the great work of its Family Medicine Residency Program.
HYC Distinguished Leadership Hero
The Honorable Linda T. Sánchez | Congresswoman 38th District
Congresswoman Sánchez has taken the lead on issues impacting our communities especially the over 7,500 people we serve annually including civil rights and equality, education, health care, homelessness and housing, immigration, and Veterans.
