Event description

Description

Please note: there will be a second workshop, to cover the same material, on September 16 at the Myersville Community Library. Register for that event here.

Learn how to apply for funding from the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority (MHAA) and your local heritage area, the Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area. Participants will learn the nuts and bolts of how to apply, important deadlines, application requirements and tips, and the specific parameters of the two heritage area grant programs open to nonprofits and government entities located within the bounds of the Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area.

This workshop will focus on both the local mini-grant program and the statewide MHAA project grant program. Mini-grants fund non-capital heritage tourism projects from $500 to $5,000. MHAA non-capital grants fund projects up to $50,000; their capital grant program funds projects up to $100,000. Both the mini-grant and project grant programs require matching funds. Final mini-grant applications will be due October 31, 2019 to fund projects generally undertaken in 2020. Project grant applications will be due in early 2020.

Not sure if your organization is located within the bounds of the Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area? Check the official map.
