Event Details

Herbal Basics is an opportunity for those who want to continue the path to confidently use locally available herbs and “weeds” to improve the health of themselves and their loved ones. This year, we're going to work through the seasons to harvest when the plants are ready. I've decided on monthly classes so we'll have a fast paced day, learning many uses, harvesting and making medicine with about 3 plants per gathering. Each class can stand alone if you happen to miss one. (We all do!)  We generally meet the third Sunday of each month, 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. beginning in February 2018. Our time will be spent indoors in the cozy setting of my home and outdoors in its fields and forests. If you haven't attended one of my classes, please contact me before registering. You must register online even if you plan to pay at class. Class is limited to 8 students.

Our full class schedule has not been posted but a former schedule is available.  ElderSpiritHerbals.  You can expect in February we'll be harvesting roots and bark. Michael Moore's Medicinal Plants of the West would be a help to you for this class. Join us!

About Me:

I started using herbs in my late teens. I took Jethro Kloss to heart and tried many of his ideas in Back to Eden (except the enemas!)I've since learned there are gentler ways than Jethro's poke 'em, puke 'em & purge 'em. It really appears true that almost any herb, taken even on the flimsiest notion, seems to help our bodies' natural intention to heal. There is such joy when we find healing in the plants growing at our feet.

I've been leading classes on our land and at other locations for over 20 years. I feel passionately that every family and community should have someone who is able to allay a cough, soothe a tummy, calm jangled nerves and ease an elders aches and pains with freely available local herbs and weeds. That's why our study group will always be affordable with lots of plant identification, harvesting techniques and hands-on preparation taught. Come study with us!
