The RnR Committee is hosting a Community Information Evening with Governance Advisor Carol Scholes joining us via Zoom.

This evening is an opportunity for all Members to gain a clear understanding of how the Association operates under the new Incorporated Societies Act 2022, and what this means for both Members and Committee going forward.

Date: Wednesday 10 December

Time: 7pm - 8:30pm

Location: Herald Island Fire Station

The session will run for 1.5 hours and will include a Q&A segment at the end.

Purpose of the Evening:

  • This Information Evening has been arranged to help the community better understand:
  • How the Incorporated Societies Act 2022 affects our Association
  • What the upcoming amendments to the Constitution requires of Members and Officers
  • How Committee roles and responsibilities are defined under the law
  • How Sub-Committees work and what authority they hold
  • What processes now apply to AGMs, SGMs, motions, and elections
  • How decisions are made and managed within the Association
  • How community members can participate safely and confidently

This is a plain-language session suitable for everyone — no governance knowledge required.

Why This Is Important:

Over the past year, the Association has completed a major governance update, including:

  • Rewriting the Constitution to meet legal requirements
  • Updating all health, safety, governance, and operational policies
  • Clarifying the rules around Committee membership, duties, and accountability
  • Implementing best practice structures to protect both the Association and its Members

It is important that every Member understands these changes, not only the Committee.

This supports transparency, protects our community organisation, and ensures everyone is informed as we move toward the 2026 AGM under the new rules.

We look forward to seeing you, either at the Fire Station or online, on Wednesday, 10 December at 7pm.
