The 4 Hour Hep-SBIRT Training is for Credentialed Professionals only.
Credentialed Professionals are those licensed or certified by the New York State Department of Education:
- Licensed Psychologist
Patients with hepatitis are at increased risk for developing liver damage as a result of even minimal alcohol use. Therefore, the NYC Health Department recommends using an evidenced based standard approach to screen and counsel all patient with hepatitis for alcohol use upon diagnosis and annually.
Completion of this 4-hour training provides training and certification in Substance Abuse Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) for NYS licensed providers.
SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment) is an evidence based model to assist those who are at risk of developing a diagnosable substance or alcohol related problem. It covers validated screening tools, stages of change, motivational interviewing and skills to help individuals change behavior.
