Most people believe that going to school as an adult learner requires a huge change to your normal way of life. No more day job. No more weekends off. No more free time.
We’re here to tell you that this doesn’t have to be the case. With Lincoln Land Community College’s Hemodialysis Technician Training program in partnership with MK Education, we make it possible for you to build on your existing career rather than start a new one from scratch—and we help you do it around the busy work schedule and family obligations you already have.
Our Hemodialysis Technician program is designed to help you advance your current health care career or to find entry-level employment in this field. You can feel confident that this flexibility also comes with high standards in training and education. Get started in an undergraduate certificate program and earn a credential employers recognize.
The shortage of qualified personnel in technology-related healthcare fields provides opportunities for our graduates to excel in some of the most in-demand specialties. Employment of dialysis technicians is projected to grow 17 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations. Because of the growing elderly population, many nursing assistants and orderlies will be needed to assist and care for these patients. (www.bls.gov)
A Hemodialysis Technician helps patients with end-stage renal disease, also known as, permanent kidney failure, to receive safe and effective dialysis treatment. It is their duty to ensure high-quality care for patients while maintaining professionalism.
Certificate programs provide participants with a foundation in kidney physiology and nephrological disease. Students will learn to ready patients for dialysis treatments, connect patients to dialysis machines, and monitor them during therapy time. They will also learn how to clean and disinfect dialyzers after each treatment for reuse.
