Helping New & Emergency-Certified Teachers Succeed (for SIG school leaders, coaches, and teachers)

Provided resource: First Year Teacher Notebook Growing Effective Teachers

This two-day workshop is based on lead4ward’s “The Heart of Teaching” series authored by Justin Richardson, Debbie Boyer, and Ginger Tucker, this workshop will provide first-year teachers and their coaches a coherent map for a successful and effective first-year by building new knowledge and skills and using practical tools and strategies. Topics may include “Getting Ready for the First Days”, “Managing the Classroom Environment”, “Maintaining Positive Student Behavior”, “Understanding Standards”, “Vocabulary and Visuals”, “Making Connections: Learning and Learner”, Working with Parents and Families”, “Being a Professional Educator”, “Working with a Mentor and Professional Learning Community”, “Managing Stress”, and “Becoming and Effective Teacher”.

90 seats available for SIG school leaders, coaches, and teachers.

This event is sponsored by the Oklahoma State Department of Education Office of School Support & Improvement for School Improvement Grant (SIG) district and school site personnel. Event management is provided by EDUTAS at the University of Oklahoma.
