Event description

Description

Want to make a difference this Thanksgiving? Each year, the African Daughters of Fine Lineage hosts an event at Thomas Paine Plaza where homeless men, women and children are invited to have a hot meal and receive care packages of donated items and non-perishable food. This organization has been working with the city’s homeless for over 20 years. You are invited to help feed the homeless and distribute donations on Thanksgiving to ensure the spirit and tradition of the holiday is shared with the less fortunate.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to spend the day setting-up and distrubuting more than 600 hot meals and sorting and distributing donated items in care packages. This food service event is also a donation opportunity. We ask that all volunteers come prepared with donations.

Volunteers can donate any of the following items:

  • New men's/women's underwear (all sizes)
  • Socks
  • Wool Hats & Scarves
  • Individually wrapped snacks (cookies, crackers, candy, etc. for the take away packages)
  • Individual cans of soda

Please note that this event begins promptly at the end of the Thanksgiving Day Parade and is located on the parade route. Be advised that there may be heavy traffic in this area.
