Event description

Description

The Town of Siler City and the Loves Creek Watershed Stewards, a local stakeholders group working to restore Loves Creek, are installing a series of wetlands, a rain garden and vegetative stream buffers to capture and slow stormwater to reduce flooding at Boling Lane Park. Volunteers, please take a moment to select for the date and time that you would like to sign up to help plant. There are only 15 slots for each day, so sign up early.

What stormwater control will be planted each day?

Tentative planting plan is as follows:

Nov 4th, Sat, from 1 to 4 pm: Plant wetlands

Nov 7th, Tues, from 9 am to 12 pm: Plant rain garden

Nov 8th, Wed, from 9 am to 12 pm: Plant creek buffer

Nov 9th, Thurs, from 9 am to 12 pm: Wrap up any remaining planting

What can volunteers bring into the event?

Work gloves, water bottle and snack. Lots of energy.

Will credit be provided for community service hours?

Yes! Make sure to bring your community service paperwork with you to be signed.
