Event description

Description

At this Help Increase the Peace (HIP) workshop, participants will learn hands on how be a trainer in the HIP curriculum and identify venues or events where they can lead parts of the curriculum, be it their school, college, workplace, place of worship, or community center.

Based on popular education methods, HIP invites participants to share their personal experiences and be enriched by the knowledge and experience of the group. HIP combines dialogue and interactive activities to encourage deeper learning and motivate action. Participants build skills for responding to conflicts through nonviolence, analyze the impact of inequality and violence on their lives and communities, and develop skills for action. Every HIP session is designed to increase skill, understanding and leadership.

HIP is a project of the American Friends Service Committee and was inspired by the Alternatives to Violence Project, an innovative program based in correctional facilities around the world. Since its creation, HIP has spread to more than 20 states, working to reduce violence, bigotry and bullying in communities and schools.
