Event description

Description

In celebrating International Men's Month, Inglewood Theater Group is hosting: “Hello America” (Inspired by For Colored Girls who considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf" & “For Black Boys who considered Homicide when the streets were too much”) to the City. This was written by Brandon Rainey and is contained in 3 parts. Part One (chronicling the life of 7 men) is the current version and was first presented as workshops in front of sold out shows in 2014 at Greenway Court Theater, UCLA, USC, American Conservatory Theater & recently went up at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. “Hello America” makes no apologies as it address issues of identity, purpose, sexuality, spirituality, love, lust and fatherhood while intentionally painting a picture of being a black man in America. The unconventional way of telling this story takes audiences on an emotional roller coaster with moments of laughter, tears and frustration..
