Event description

Description

On June 26, 2008, Justice Scalia of the United States Supreme Court handed down one of the most historic, landmark decisions in American history.

The long debated question of whether or not the Second Amendment guaranteed an individual right to own a firearm was finally settled in Washington D.C. v. Heller.

Held:

The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.

Since this landmark decision, more than 300 subsequent Second Amendment cases have been brought before the U.S. Judicial system.

Including two major victories:

1) McDonald v. Chicago – 2010, in which the U.S. Supreme Court applied the federal ruling of Heller to the states

2) Wrenn v. DC – 2017, in which the D.C. Court of Appeals struck down D.C.’s unconstitutional requirements for concealed carry

On June 26, 2018, Second Amendment supporters from across the country will convene in Washington, D.C. to celebrate ten years of gun freedom at this historic event.

This event will be a banquet styled event. Business professional attire will be required.
