Event Details

The National Hellenic Student Association of North America and Philo4Thought are pleased to launch the 2014 Hellenic Summer Scholars Initiative, in collaboration with The American College of Greece in Athens.

The National Hellenic Student Association (NHSA) of North America serves as an umbrella organization for Hellenic student organizations on a college/university basis throughout the United States and Canada. NHSA hosts several initiatives and holds semi-annual conventions that are educational, professional and social in nature.

Philo4Thought (P4T) is an organization that strives to provide academic advisement and career support services for today's young Hellenic professional. P4T fosters the concept of Positive Professional Identity, helping others build confident networking and job-readiness skills through monthly seminars, tutorials and publications.

The American College of Greece (ACG) was founded in Smyrna, Asia Minor, in 1875 by American missionaries. It is the oldest and largest US-accredited college or university in Europe.  For over 138 years, ACG has been offering transformative education and cultivating a fertile intellectual and cultural collaboration between Greece and the United States. Its mission is to add distinctive value to the global community through transformative teaching, scholarship and service.

The formal discovery of our cultural origins is a key element in determining the academic and professional pursuits for which one is best suited. To this end, the 2014 Hellenic Summer Scholars Initiative (HSSI), entitled “Facets of Greece,” will provide attendees with the opportunity to explore their Greek heritage Greece in a small group setting jointly facilitated by our organizations. This 12-day trip will enable participants to experience Greece in a new light and explore various aspects of their Greek culture and heritage. Students will have the opportunity to dorm at the ACG, take tours of the rich cultural and historical sites of mainland Greece, attend seminars, and participate in various educational workshops. The trip will take place from June 30, 2014 through July 12, 2014. Available spots are limited!

Trip Highlights:

  • Tour of Athens
  • 5-Day Tour of Greece including Ancient Corinth, Olympia, and Delphi
