HeForShe Arts Week | Signature Event
Today's youth generation possesses the passion and commitment to lead the world towards gender equality and is at the forefront of the HeForShe movement; catalyzing irreversible change through innovative solutions that come directly from them.
This one-hour HeForShe Arts Week signature event provides a unique opportunity for youth to learn about the importance of gender equality and power of arts from Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Under-Secretary General and Executive Director, UN Women and Guggenheim curator Megan Fontanella, followed by a viewing of the exhibition Visionaries: Creating a Modern Guggenheim.
The collections of six Guggenheim patrons are highlighted throughout Visionaries, including acquisitions by the first director of the Guggenheim Museum, Hilla Rebay; artist and curator Katherine S. Dreier; and self-proclaimed "art addict" Peggy Guggenheim. The pioneering spirit of these women helped define the Guggenheim as the groundbreaking institution it is today.
Attendees will be welcome to visit the incredible Visionaries collection after the event from 2-5pm.
