Expert training. Affordable. If you need training in CPR for an OSHA-mandated job requirement or you just want to know how to keep your loved ones safe,we have instructors to ensure you get training that sticks.
Is there an age limit to becoming certified?
No, however if a student can understand the information and pass the written and skills testing, then a certification card can be issued as early as age 10. NOTE: All students under the age of 16 shall be accompanied by an adult throughout the duration of the class.
Are photo ID's required to take the class?
Yes, unless under the age of 16 (adult supervision required). This is necessary to validate registration.
How long does the class take?
First Aid, CPR and AED classes typically take 6-8 hours depending on class attendance and participation. Be sure to allot yourself the whole day just in case.
What can/can't I bring to the class?
Snacks are welcomed as long as they're not intrusive or distracting to other students and drinks are okay provided they are managed. This course involves hands-on skills with CPR training aids, so a drink that can be spilled would need to be relocated and/or sealed prior to performing First Aid, CPR or AED skills.
We ask that cell phones be kept on silent or off during the instruction portion of the class. It is distracting to other participants and hinders learning of important, life-saving information. Breaks and lunch will be provided which will allow for catching up on calls, texts or other digital needs.
Do you take breaks?
Yes, typically the instructor will have 5-10 minute breaks on the hour (or whenever a module will allow) and a 1-hour lunch will be given, as well.
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
If you need any additional information or have any questions, please contact call the BGFD Training Division at 270-393-3089.
Is my registration transferrable?
Yes. In the event you cannot make the class, you can transfer your individual (or group) registration to another person or to another event date.
Do I have to bring my registration confirmation to the class?
No. We provide a sign-in roster the day of the class which will have all registered participants listed. Just provide your photo ID (students under 16 shall be accompanied by adult) find your name, and check the box! An instructor will be available to help.
Something has come up or I decided that CPR training is not for me. What is your refund policy?
In the event you cannot make the training for the specified date, you can transfer your individual (or group) registration to another event date. If you have to cancel your registration it must be done AT LEAST 3 DAYS prior to the event start. This affords someone else the opportunity to sign up for that event should it be full prior to cancellation.
How long do I have to sign up for a class?
As long as the class is not filled, you can register anytime up to 24 hours prior to the event start.
The name on the registration doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?
Prior to the event, you should make every effort to transfer the registration to another attendee to avoid any confusion. If this is not possible, we may contact the registered participant (prior to event start) to ensure they are giving up their spot.
How long is my certification good for?
Certifications are valid for two years.
I have back and knee problems or some other issue that prevents me from getting down on the floor. Can I attend the training?
Most likely. Please let us know at the time you check in for a class of any special needs or concerns you may have. At that time, we can discuss alternative teaching methods, and hopefully be able to meet your needs.
I have an injury or disability and can't perform all the skills. Can I be certified?
No. CPR/AED and First Aid certification requires that students pass a written exam and a skills exam. Students who cannot perform the skills are not issued certification cards. However, a person with a disability can perform many of the skills as well as guide another rescuer through the steps.
When do I get my certification card?
After successful completion of your class, you will receive your card in the mail within two-weeks (typically sooner).
What should I wear?
The class involves hands-on practice so it is best if you wear comfortable clothes that you can move around in. You will be on the floor and bending a lot during practice. If you have long hair it's best to wear it back.
