Event description

Description

The Hearts & Minds Living Library (H&MLL) is an equities tool that seeks to break stereotypes by creating a safe space for storytelling. It works just like a normal library: readers browse the catalogue for available titles, choose the Book they want to read, and borrow it for a limited period of time. The only difference is that in the H&MLL, ‘Books’ are people, and ‘Reading’ consists of a personal dialogue: one-on-one conversations held in an open anti-oppressive space.

On Sep 9th, the Institute of Canadian Archives is organizing North America's first Hearts & Minds Living Library - Compassion Catalogue featuring stories from different faiths, values, and denominations. This press launch event is an intimate celebration of the event and a moment to initiate a conversation with the three partners, the Institute of Canadian Archives, the Christian-Jewish Dialogue Toronto and the Olive Tree Foundation. As a guest, you will be able to sneak-a-peek behind the event, network with some of our Books, and enjoy a stand-up comedy act! We will be featuring some content created by our creative young volunteers. The event will culminate in an informal networking event with light refreshments.
