CPR/AED training by The Rotary Club of Plymouth

Anybody interested in being trained in Bystander CPR and AED use is encouraged to attend. Learn how to save the life of a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) victim.

The one-hour and 15 minute training sessions are open to teenagers and adults who are interested in learning to help save lives. Participants can learn hands-only CPR, which teaches chest compressions without mouth-to-mouth breaths, as well as the use of an AED.

We limit class size to 35; registrations are required.

An AED, or Automated External Defibrillator, is a portable electronic device that automatically detects disturbances in the rhythm of a heartbeat and is able to treat them through defibrillation, the application of electrical therapy, allowing the heart to reestablish an effective rhythm.

Registrants with COVID symptoms should cancel their registrations.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

This training does not include treatment of infants and children under 55 pounds. For infants you need to take a full first aid class. Participants in our trainings should be 8th grade and up. Younger kids often lack the strength to work effectively with the manikins.

Do you issue an American Heart Association card upon completion?

This training is called Adult Bystander CPR/AED training. Although this is an AHA approved course, no AHA cards will be issued. Our Rotary does issue a card and similar to AHA, we recommend retraining at least every two years. We teach everything the HeartSaver course teaches except providing Emergency Breaths. We teach Hands Only/Compression CPR. It does not qualify for health care providers recertification.
