Friday, November 1, 2013 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM (PDT)
Lecture and Knowledge Class open to all ages
Heart disease should not exist. As former director of the famed Framingham Heart Study William Castelli, MD has said in an interview with Kirk Hamilton, “…it’s much better if you can get people to go on a diet. Now if I would have put every on a vegetarian diet and drive their numbers down by diet, we would get rid of all the atherosclerosis in America.” Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, who helped President Clinton lose 24 lbs when his stents clogged, called heart disease “a toothless paper tiger.” You will hear/see the data from heart disease diet pioneers such as Morrison, Pritikin, Ornish, Barnard, Esselstyn, McDougall and others on the power of a low-fat, whole food plant based diet with and without nuts, but usually oil-free as a treatment not just to prevent heart disease , but reverse it. Cardioprotective nutritional supplements will also be discussed. Kirk will prepare an oil free pasta-walnut salad with tomatoes, beets, garlic and green onions, and then have a grape medley sprinkled with chia seeds and pomegranates seeds for dessert with a walnut – blackberry dressing. You will also receive a copy of Kirk’s book “Staying Healthy in the Fast Lane” whose theme is the prevention and reversal of age-related (chronic) diseases, such as diabetes, by the use of a low allergy, anti-inflammatory, unprocessed plant-based diets.
