About this event
Hearing Pictures is a series of performances that bring painters, musicians, and composers to MIT to explore the relationships between music, sound, and the visual arts.
Chris Brokaw performs live scores for guitars, electronics and percussion to video interviews (sourced from YouTube) with homeless drug addicts (2021/2022) and a catatonic schizophrenic (1961). 45 minutes.

Chris Brokaw is perhaps best known for his work with the bands Codeine and Come. He has recorded over two dozen solo albums of instrumental and vocal music; composes music for film and dance; and currently plays with Come, Codeine, Lupo Citta and the Martha's Vineyard Ferries. He has an ongoing project with Matthew Nolan performing live scores to the silent films of Peter Hutton. He has worked as an accompanist to Thurston Moore, Rhys Chatham, Jennifer O'Connor, Alan Licht, Christina Rosenvinge, Steve Wynn and GG Allin. His most recent album "Puritan" was voted 'Best Album of 2021' by ExitMusik (Paris, France).
