Event description

Description

Healthy Soil, Healthy Water Workshop - Preserving our Land and Water Legacy in the Wisconsin River Basin through Locally-Led Conservation

Join farmers and others in the Wisconsin River Basin, who will hear firsthand from individuals involved in locally-led efforts to build soil health, boost farm profits, conserve nutrients, reduce erosion, and improve water quality.

Hear how keynote speaker Andy Bensend has built a successful formula based on no-till, integrated pest management, nutrient management, cover crops and perseverance. Today, his enterprises include over 4,000 acres of primarily corn and soybeans using no-till or strip-till planting.

Other presenters will address examples of farmer-led watershed groups, incorporating soil health practices into your farming system, the links between soil health and clean water, an update on the Wisconsin River cleanup plans, and more.
