Event description

Description

Everyone has a role to play when it comes to securing healthy, safe, and sustainable learning environments for children. Each one of us can make a huge impact on the school environment where thousands of children, faculty, and staff spend over 1,000 hours every year.

The Healthy Schools Summit invites you to attend this enriching learning opportunity that allows us to share knowledge, collaborate, and take an active role in promoting green and heathy learning environments. Our summit will:

• Feature Keynote Speakers Dr. Stephanie Chalupka, RN whose research focuses on climate health and children's health; MaryAnn Settlemye, EPA Environmental Educator of the Year awardee whose STEAM-focused curriculum has made her school one of the top 10 Greenest Schools in the US (certified by the National Wildlife Foundation); and Fred Remelius, Director of Operations at Upper Merion School District, a champion and advocate for Indoor Air Quality management using EPA's Tools for Schools program.

• Address key issues in school health and the built environment, including indoor air quality, green cleaning, and school renovations.

• Provide interactive opportunities on how to implement various strategies in our schools, including a STEAM Curriculum workshop and a Grant-Writing and Communications panel that will help school community members strategically find opportunities to implement sustainable practices.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided. This Summit is open to the public. Act 48 and Continuing Education credits are available for educators and nurses.

Early bird registration fee is $15; after October 15, 2018 the registration fee is $25.
