Healthy Oxford Hills April Coalition Meeting
Tue, April 25, 2017, 11:45 AM – 1:00 PM EDT
Good afternoon, HOH Coalition partners, and happy spring to all!
We have not had a Coalition meeting/lunch for a few months and we at HOH are looking forward to seeing many of you next week. Our presenter is Solange Carpenter, a Maine Hunger Initiative VISTA volunteer from Preble Street in Portland. Solange will be providing practical and hands-on information to help Providers and Volunteers learn how to navigate the SNAP (Food Supp/ formerly known as food stamps) program so that they can better assist their clients and neighbors. This training will walk them through the process and the challenges that arise with it, and with DHHS. This is aimed at anyone who works with a low-income community, whether as a case workers, housing manager, general assistance, or volunteering with an organization such as a food pantry, faith-based organization, etc. but all are welcome. We will have a slideshow, as well as handouts about the various barriers and challenges of a SNAP applicant. We also will be giving out our information if people want to stay updated, as the SNAP program and others have the tendancy to change with each administration.
Come join us next Tuesday for good information, good networking, and good re-connecting after the winter. To your health! Jim
