Event description

Description

With the powerful and transformative #MeToo campaign, women across America continue to bravely denounce sexual harassment and assault. But how can men show up in this moment -- and especially in the new paradigm it creates?

Join us on Monday, January 22 as we explore this question in the context of a public conversation about "healthy masculinity."

We'll begin with a promotional screening of The Work, the acclaimed documentary detailing a four-day intensive group therapy process in Fulsom County Prison. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the South by SouthWest film festival, the film highlights the devastating effects of both the American prison system and patriarchal norms.

The screening will be followed by a conversation with film's director, Gethin Aldous, and a member of the ManKind Project, a personal development group based on the techniques demonstrated in the film.
Seating is limited.

Praise for The Work

100% Rating on Rotten Tomatoes
#3 in 20 Best Films of 2017 -- Vox
5 stars -- The Guardian

"The Work carries a profound, implicit point about a culture that encourages men to bottle up what they feel, then condemns them after those emotions express themselves in violent, destructive ways." (Onion AV Club)
