Healthy Huntsville Fitness Competition

Healthy Huntsville has teamed up with CrossFit Huntsville, CrossFit Impulse, the U.S. Space and Rocket Center and the Huntsville Botanical Gardens to bring you the Healthy Huntsville Fitness Competition.

Register between 8:30 and 9:00 am on Saturday, August 25 at the Health Tent at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens' GreenU Festival. Races will begin in heats at 8:45. You will be notified of your heat and sent a release form which you must print, sign, and bring with you to registration.

Details: wear some old clothes that we don't mind getting dirty and wet!!

Competitors arrive between 7:15 and 8:15 am on Saturday, August 25 at the Health Tent at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens’ GreenU Festival. Day-of registration closes at 8:15. Competition will begin in heats at 8:45. Competitors will be notified of start time and sent a release form to print, sign, and bring with you to registration.

~Run from the Botanical Gardens to Aviation Challenge, under the right side of the covered area to the first large grassy area (approximately 500m-600m or so, on pavement).

~Perform a "carry" with weights, or an assortment of heavy objects (first come first serve).

~Run to the woods to start the trail run (approximately 100m)

~1st "woods" obstacle

~continue trail run down a few steps and across a little bridge, then up a little hill

~low net crawl

~finish trail run and come out to a long grassy area

~burpee broad jumps

~walking lunges

~run back around the back of the lake, down a narrow walkway (cement) and around the front of the lake

~lake swim; it is a soft bottom (dirty and mush) and it isn't too deep, so you will be able to touch almost to entire time; we will have life vests available at the area where the swim starts. There will be a "staging" area in front of the swim so that people can take off clothing/shoes and put on different shoes or goggles if they want to.

~the challenge will end with a very short run to the finish line right out of the water, approximately 10m-20m

We will name four citizens Huntsville's Healthiest: General (male, female) and Masters (55+; male, female). This competition is for adults.

Winners will be recognized at the Healthy Huntsville Awards Show taking place at 11:00 am at the Health Tent at GreenU.
