Course Description: This week long course will take educators beyond the 1-to- 1 relationship to a deeper understanding of group dynamics. Learn practical techniques and gain insight into what it takes to make a healthy classroom environment. Foster positive classroom values and leadership in all members so that students can engage in even the most challenging curriculum.
Topics of study include:
- Group formation- 6 indicators
- Leaders- identifying, responding, and fostering
- Liaisons- the most powerful member of a group
- Irritability- fairness, bullies, rumors, and ignoring
- Season- "pushing the class" and "off the wall" days
- Individuals- stereotyping, scapegoats, favorites
Intended Audience: Anyone who works with students or colleagues in a group setting: Classroom teachers, coaches, and administrators.
Course fee includes: Influencing the Dynamics for a Healthy Classroom by Michael Grinder and light snacks each day.
Class meets 5 days June 16-20 from 9am-4pm.
