Calling all Healthcare Scientists! Join us on the 21st July for a meeting to discuss education within Healthcare Science, where we are now, where we're going and how to maximise the impact of the opportunities ahead of us.

This meeting will showcase current work and facilitate discussions about reaching across boundaries in education. It is aimed at Healthcare Scientists of all levels and from all disciplines but would be especially useful for Lead Healthcare Scientists, managers and those with an education input within their organisation. We also welcome non Healthcare Scientists who are involved with the profession as part of their organisational role, such as Chief Executives, Medical Directors, Directors of Education and Chief Nurses.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Professor Elizabeth Hughes, Dean and Director of Education & Quality for Health Education England in London & South East
  • Dr Peter Steer, Chief Executive Great Ormond Street Hospital
  • Professor Shelley Heard, Chief Scientific Officer's Team, Health Education England
  • Nicholas Fowler-Johnson, North West Healthcare Science Workforce Lead
  • Dr Lynne Rogers, Institute of Education, University College London

Topics will include:

  • The HEE strategic vision for Healthcare Science education
  • Apprenticeships in Healthcare Science
  • The importance of leadership in education
  • Clinical academic careers in Healthcare Science
  • What is the role of Practice Educators in Healthcare Science?
  • Education funding – sources and franchise models
  • Shared teaching provision across Trusts, Is it possible?

The day will consist of a mixture of lectures and workshops with the aim of increasing collaboration and developing new approaches.
