About this Event

Healthcare Hack Nights are a series of part-workshop, part-lab event to explore how AI and machine learning can be applied to healthcare and biological problems.

The aim of these events is to learn a new skill for a healthcare-related problem.

In this session, we'll overview a cancer gene expression dataset from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and utilize machine learning to identify markers for liver cancer.

In subsequent events, we'll dive deeper into this data set and identify additional areas where ML can be applied.

Spell is a cloud platform that will power our machine learning experimentation for Hack Night. Spell is an end-to-end data science and machine learning platform with the infrastructure and tools to efficiently prepare, train, deploy and manage Machine Learning projects.

Targeted audience:

General public interested in solving healthcare related data problems.

Minimum requirements:

- Basic understanding of either R or Python 3 (Python 3 is the preferred language. The past projects have all been Python 3 based.)

- Interest in solving healthcare related problems

- Basic understanding of data-science, AI and ML

- GitHub account
