Health Workers Unite--Bridging the Bay for Black Lives
Event Information
About this event
The Do No Harm Coalition, APTP, Public Health Justice Collective, Healthcare Worker Action Network, Health Justice Commons, Palestinian Youth Movement, Asians 4 Black Lives, USCF Nursing Students of Color, GABRIELA Oakland, Solidarity Forever Collective, POOR Magazine invite ALL health workers, healers and students in the health and caring professions to join us in a socially distanced rally & car caravan to declare racism and police violence as public health crises that cause unacceptable and disproportionate poor health for Black people and require disproportionate decisive action to address.
Black people suffer the worst outcomes from COVID and from police violence due to entrenched systemic racism. We are committed to ending racism in every form in order to uplift the health of the communities we serve.
We will be sending a notice to our lawmakers for demands to uplift the Black New Deal, as outlined by Anti Police-Terror Project as well as to outline our vision for creating a society centered around a Culture of Care. Please sign and circulate this letter.
We will be meeting up Saturday June 20th at 4pm on Pill Hill at the Grocery Outlet at 2900 Broadway and driving in a car caravan to Bernal Hill, SF, the site where Alex Nieto's life was taken by SFPD and where his memory lives strong in our commitment to end this violence. We will be joined there by community members impacted by police violence and Ramaytush Ohlone culture bearer Gregg Castro who will lead us in a circle at Precita Park to end this violence in this beautiful territory.
We will be broadcasting live on 415fm.com as we drive, to keep the vibe alive between us.
