Have you ever wondered about working with a professional to determine the very best way to improve your fitness and health? Would you rather be outside than in a gym? Would you like to learn which exercises will compliment your outdoor adventures?

This retreat will bring us together as we experience a variety of classes and activities designed to help you maintain your ability to enjoy the outdoors. Together we will learn transformative skills focused on improving and maintaining your individual skeletal structure and quality of life.

The weekend will include structured classes, group movement and exercise sessions plus a variety of health and wellness discussions. Participants may enjoy all or some of the activities.

Learn and practice skills and progressive routines designed to enhance your health and joint function as well as optimize, personalize and program your fitness.

Expert instruction will help you improve your ability to hike efficiently and comfortably using poles. A variety of top quality poles will be provided – learn which model fits you best and will enable you to achieve your hiking goals.

Weekend rate includes two nights’ accommodations and most (healthy and delicious) meals.

Hikes and/or walks will be fairly gentle as the terrain near the Lifeboat Station is quite easy.

Participation extremely limited.

Historic Lifeboat Station at Chimney Rock

Lifeboat Station

The Point Reyes Lifeboat Station is a National Historic Landmark overlooking beautiful Drakes Bay. It is the last remaining example of a rail-launched lifeboat station that was common on the Pacific coast. Located at Chimney Rock, the Lifeboat Station was built in 1927 by the U.S. Coast Guard and contains the crew’s quarters, a large boat bay, and a marine railway system for launching a 36-foot life boat.

The ground floor houses the boat bay museum where a renovated motor boat is located.

The area around the Lifeboat Station is used by the Marine Mammal Center as a release site for rehabilitated wildlife. While staying here some classes are unexpectedly treated to the release of an otter or harbor seal.

  • Ample working / studio space
  • Large second floor reading / meeting room overlooking Drakes Bay
  • Seven bedrooms accommodating 24 individuals, bunk style sleeping
  • Fully-equipped kitchen with large fridge, large freezer, and commercial range/over
  • Two large multi person bath/shower rooms
  • Projector

What to Bring: (overnight)

  • Writing Utensils and Journal
  • Hat and sunscreen
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • WARM sleeping bag and pillow (linens not provided for bunkbeds, mattress only)
  • Extra sleeping pad for comfort (optional, but the provided mattress is fairly thin)
  • Ear plugs (in case of snorers)
  • Personal toiletries (shampoo, soap, bath towel, etc.)
  • Insect repellant
  • Flashlight or headlamp

After registering, please email to be added to the group email list, and the instructor will email you a custom list of items you can bring (or borrow) that will facilitate your comfort and ability to participate most comfortably in the weekend, as well as the sign-up info for food.

Meals are coordinated ahead of time via a brilliant website that makes the food for the weekend easy, creative and fun. Rather than having to prepare all your meals for the whole weekend, you will be able to bring 2 to 3 items plus a few staples. This easy and well-organized website will enable us to see what everyone is bringing as our culinary experience unfolds.

Our focus is on healthy, nutritious, yummy meals that connect us as we share stories and enjoy health-related discussions. You will be able to contribute in a way that you’re comfortable, whether it’s a main dish, side dishes, snacks or staples (which will be listed so all you have to do is sign up for that item).

Participants are asked to advise the instructor of any food allergies or limitations.
