Event description

Description

Choosing your area of focus is an important step in your career and making sure you register for the correct classes is critical. We are scheduling Group Academic Advising meetings to review the courses for each concentration/practice area and invite you to attend session(s) based on your interests. If you are unable to attend, you may contact your Student Advisor for an individual appointment. We strongly encourage you to work with your designated field coordinator to ask your questions about practicum, as field information will not be distributed at the academic advising meetings.

Purpose of the Group Academic Advising Meetings:

  1. 1. Inform you of the coursework needed for a specific concentration/practice area to complete the MSW degree.
  2. 2. Assist you in updating your electronic academic plan so you know when your courses are offered in your last year of the MSW program.

Group Academic Advising meetings will be held in the computer lab (AD 2064) so you can open your accounts, make corrections and have your Student Advisor approve it the day of the meeting. Note that you have the ability to change your concentration/practice area afterwards, but if you do, it is imperative that you consult with your Student Advisor to ensure the changes are correct. We have had students enroll in incorrect classes that pose challenges for graduation.
