This event is EVERY WEDNESDAY from 4PM-5:30PM.
We are seeking students and adults interested in volunteering in this program. Volunteering would consist of working with the younger students on their literacy skills and activities, as well as helping to distribute healthy snacks to the students.
Big thank you to Citizens Committee for NYC (CCNYC) for awarding us a grant for our "Tell at Markham" program with Markham Gardens. Details are below:
The acronym (TELL) represents Teaching, Empowerment, Literacy, and Learning. The program will meet weekly for ten months. Each session will last 90 minutes: 15 minutes for greeting; 30 minutes for literacy groups; 15 minutes for snack; and 30 minutes for interactive-activity based on the literacy group. A critical component of the program is assessing participants on their attendance and reading grades in regular school.
A library has been created at Markham, consisting of 160 over books. Parents and children will be able to borrow books. We look forward to your participation in this program!
