Event description

Description

The Health & Education Fund Partners believe that the people most affected by inequities – what we call opportunity communities – are in the best position to offer solutions to these inequities. Therefore, the most effective way to improve outcomes for families and children is for the Fund to invest in grassroots, community-led organizing and advocacy that addresses the root causes of inequity in health and education.

The Fund Partners recognize how rare this opportunity is: to invest significantly in the capacity of opportunity communities to make meaningful legislative change. Too often, our legislative decisions (from school districts to state houses) are made without the leadership, or even input, of these opportunity communities. And, too often, we underfund the efforts needed to advance policy solutions that can address the systemic issues these communities face.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Funding Available: $1,000,000 of resources are available. Up to $800,000 may support 501(c)4-eligible activities. We will award a minimum of $300,000 and a maximum of $1,000,000 per grantee.

Term: Project activities must begin by July 1, 2019 and be completed by December 2021, although the policy change itself does not have to happen within this period.

Eligible Activities: Funds can support community organizing, coalition building, capacity building for advocacy, issue research, polling, policy development, voter and community engagement, issue development, campaign development and implementation, education, lobbying, leadership development, get-out-the-vote activities, canvassing, fundraising and endorsement activities.

This webinar is for interested applicants to learn more about the eligibility requirements, Request for Proposals and the application timeline. A link to join the webinar will be sent to everyone who RSVPs, so be sure to sign up.

We'll also post a recording of the webinar with closed captioning as soon as possible after February 25.
