Event description
Health Decisions: How Much Are They Worth? A Discussion with Hospital & Healthcare Executive Adimika Arthur.

About this Event

The reality that health-care costs are expensive—often, prohibitively so—is well known. Women are the main healthcare decision-makers—we are making the healthcare decisions for ourselves, our partners, our parents and our children…all while giving de facto advice and unqualified second opinions to our neighbors, coworkers and friends. Many of us take our health and, by association, our healthcare coverage and providers for granted. That is until something happens: loss of a job; switch to entrepreneurship and self-employment, divorce, or a parent or child gets sick. Then, health may have a competing lens: that of a market premised on profit and that of your interest in fair and equitable access to public health.

Come hear hospital and healthcare executive Adimika Arthur discuss how healthcare innovation intersects with healthcare accessibility and affordability. Adimika knows how the topic of healthcare connects us all, be it rural communities or urban; wealthy or poor; coastal, southern or mid-western, old or young. We have entered the era of decision-making, medicine and healthcare where opportunity meets challenge and we can have a voice in how this landscape evolves.

We’ve reached a serendipitous point, one in which healthcare has never been more fast-moving and forward-looking, and women have never been more empowered to take charge—of both their care and their communities. As a trained epidemiologist, health care administrator and leader, Adimika has seen the landscape evolve and gets to help plan the nation’s future. Come hear how her experience has evolved and shaped her belief that these are solvable problems and healthcare can be affordable for all.
