Event description

Description

Join a walk along the Middlesex Greenway in Edison and learn how this greenway was designed with public health in mind. Leigh Ann Von Hagen from the Bloustein School, Rutgers University, and Robert Takash from Edison Greenways, will discuss how the greenway came about and was designed using public health enhancement techniques. You will learn how to find health statistics and how to apply this information whether you are building a trail, preserving land or stewarding green space in your community. You will also have the opportunity to meet and interact with local public health officials while participating in a "Walk with a Doc" program. John Dowd from the Middlesex County Department of Public Safety and Health, Office of Health Services, will discuss programs that incorporate the greenway into meeting public health objectives.

Parking on Thomas St (same side as the Y, the other side is just residential), Lake Ave (same side as Y between Brunswick and High, past High you can park on either side), by Tommy’s Pond, and on both sides of High Street (past Lake Ave if you’re coming from Main Street).
