Event description

Description

The Recovery College NZ brings you a 6-week Health Coaching workshop series with registered health coach Laura Fourie. It will be run once a week from Tues 3rd of March to Tues 7th April from 10am to 1pm. It will educate and support you to make small changes so you can begin the process to achieve the health goals you have set for yourself. Just like sports coaches, the role of a health coach is to inspire confidence, share knowledge and find ways to motivate you to achieve your goals.

Do you want to make better nutrition choices? Do you want to move more? Do you want to know how to manage stress better? Is your life cluttered physically and mentally? You set the goals and your coach will support you to access the resources you need to achieve those goals. The changes you make will be small and achievable. You will be guided to move out of your comfort zone in small increments.

This workshop series if for people who are ready to make small changes. For people who are ready to take action. It's for people who are willing to attend every session. It's the first time we've offered this series. We hope it will be the beginning of many more.

There will be a follow-up workshop on Tues the 21st of April two weeks after the conclusion of the series where attendees can share their challenges and successes and access further support if needed.

A little bit about Laura Fourie. After training as an Occupational Therapist, she moved into Hospitality, Outdoor Recreation, Education and Accommodation. For the past 15 years she has been an Outdoor Instructor using high ropes, abseiling, multi-day tramping and kayaking to challenge groups to get out of their comfort zones and overcome personal limitations. She is also a Karate Instructor. She has experienced two near death events, depression, self-harm and a series of emotionally and physically abusive relationships. Through all of this she advanced up the career ladder, became a mum, a homeowner and represented New Zealand in Karate at World Competitions.

At the age of 40 she did the inner work to find her purpose and found health coaching. She found her way out of the dark and into the light. Now she would like to share her knowledge and experiences to help others do the same.
