Description

Dear Friend,

Please join Senator Maria Cantwell for a town hall at the University of Washington’s Kane Hall on Wednesday, July 5th. Senator Cantwell will answer questions from constituents on the future of health care policy and address concerns about the proposed Trumpcare bill currently in the U.S. Senate. She will be joined by Dr. Paul Ramsey, CEO of UW School of Medicine and Dean of the UW School of Medicine.

All tickets are free of cost.

Please review the below agenda, Q&A, and frequently asked questions before you attend:

AGENDA:

5:00 PM - Doors open for check-in

6:00 PM - Event starts

7:30 PM - Event concludes

Q&A:

  • At check-in, attendees who would like to ask a question will be given a raffle ticket. When Q&A begins, tickets will be drawn at random. Attendees with the corresponding tickets will ask a question.

  • If your number is called, please make your way to the nearest aisle as quickly as possible. A staff member will be waiting with a microphone.

  • We expect to be at full capacity. To make sure as many people are allowed to ask a question as possible, please ask only one question and try to keep your question brief.

  • If you don’t have an opportunity to ask a question, don’t worry! We will have stations set up to collect your questions when the event concludes. Every question will receive a response from Senator Cantwell’s office.

FAQ:

Do I need a ticket to attend?

  • You must show either a printed or mobile ticket at the door that displays your name.

Can I bring in signs and posters?

  • Signs and posters will not be allowed into the event. We want the town hall to be a good experience for everyone and posters and signs can block the view of people sitting behind you as well as pose a safety risk.

Can I bring my backpack or a large purse?

  • Backpacks and large bags will not be allowed into the event for security reasons.

Are there any other prohibited items?

  • The following items are prohibited: Firearms, knives, air horns, glass bottles, cans, picnic baskets, bota bags, ice chests, and thermoses. Any other items deemed by school staff and/or law enforcement to be unsafe or disruptive are prohibited.

Can I bring in food or beverages?

  • Food and beverages will not be allowed inside the event.

What can I do to make sure the event runs smoothly?

  • Please help us create a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. Be respectful, silence your cell phones, and refrain from using profanity.

  • For safety, please do not stand on furniture or block aisles or fire exits.

What are my transportation or parking options for getting to and from the event?

  • We recommend using public transportation as parking is limited.

What if I need special accommodations?

  • All event spaces are ADA-compliant. If you would like further assistance, please email TownHall@cantwell.senate.gov
