MNsure navigators identify immigration as one of the top areas where they want more training support. Attend this morning session for in-depth information on this topic and leave feeling confident and prepared to successfully support immigrants through the application and enrollment process.

Health Care Programs for Immigrants: Eligibility and Expert Application Assistance

Participants in this interactive training session will:

  • Learn the immigration eligibility rules for Medical Assistance, MinnesotaCare and Advanced Premium Tax Credits (APTCs).
  • Review the most common immigration documents and learn how to read them to determine a person’s immigration status.
  • Learn about eligibility issues that are unique to immigrants, such as the impact of families with mixed immigration statuses, sponsored immigrants, eligibility considerations for Student Visa holders, and people who work under an assumed name.
  • Give attendees time to practice properly reporting immigration information on the MNsure application.

Guides and Tools: Attendees will receive reference sheets on iimmigration status and eligibility that can be used when assisting clients. Participants will also gain access to Assister Connect, Portico’s moderated forum for assisters to share questions, experiences, and best practices.

Approved for 1.5 continuing education units by the MN Board of Social Work

Registration and check-in will begin at 8:30. Program will begin promptly at 9:00.

Please park in the Spruce Tree Centre parking lot. Validation for parking will be provided.
