Hear from women veteran leaders and professionals on the importance of wellness - body, mind and spirit in a day focused on YOU, the veteran and the woman. Your speakers are:

Charlene Marx

Our Keynote Speaker, Charlene Marx RN, APP, served active duty and Reserves in the Army Nurse Corps. Recognizing the changing roles and demographics of women within the armed forces has driven her continued development to reach women with prevention in mind. As Integrative Health Manager at Clear Path for Veterans, her primary work encompasses program build out with experiential and educational opportunities for integrative medicine offered to Veterans, active service members, caretakers and family members. Her collaboration with local community practitioners and resources has positioned Clear Path as the first national site to host Crouse Hospital's CEU, Veteran Massage Program to licensed massage therapists.

Keynote: Strength in Persistence: How Tenacity can be an Asset.

She will also be offering a workshop and demonstration on Polarity Therapy, a non-invasive healing energy practice that calms and sedates the central nervous system through a series of gentle touches.

Kayleen Spicer

Kayleen Spicer works at Clear Path for Veterans as the Social Engagement manager, overseeing the women’s, art and recreation programs in addition to several organizational events. As part of her work at Clear Path, she implemented a journaling and creative writing program for military-connected men and women. Kayleen Spicer, M.A. will lead you through a writing exercise entitled "The Courage to be Sane." She will draw from her extensive writing and instructing background in her workshop that offers participants the opportunity to explore everyday life with humor and grace.

Sharon Bailey

Sharon Bailey, USAF Major, Retired, has been married 37 years, and has three sons and three granddaughters. Sharon started her career in the military as a Combat Medic in the Army. After her enlistment she entered the Air Force Reserves as a Flight Medic.

She completed her education in Social Work, entered into the Air Force and retired after 20 years of service. Sharon has a variety of experience as a clinician, educator and in leadership. She is currently the Veteran Outreach Administrator for the Vet to Vet Program at Bridges in Rockland County.

Sharon will be offering a workshop titled:  Buckle Your Seat Belt: Brace Yourself for the Next Transition. In this seminar she will lead a discussion about why it’s important to take care of yourself, ways of taking care of your needs and how the military experience has changed you for good (the pluses and the minuses).

Several holistic practitioners have volunteered their time to offer you short sessions of reflexology, chair massage and reiki. This is a chance for you to learn about these non-invasive methods of wellness and to experience a short session yourself to see if it's right for you. There will also be a talk and demonstration of acupuncture.

A delicious lunch will be provided as well as private time so you can just connect with each other, enjoy the beautiful gardens at the CV Rich Mansion or take some time for personal reflection.
