Health and Wellness (Social)ly Distanced Ride
Event Information
About this Event
This Bike Ride is a collaborative event between the UHD Bike Club, UHD Active Minds and the Student Government Association. This event was put together to help our UHD Gators, students, faculty, staff, and alumni alike to engage in activities promoting health and wellness. Riding a bike can help your mental health by calming your mind with the outside scenery. The color Green has been proven to have a therapeutic effect on the human mind. Research has also shown that bike riding can help with insomnia and reduce daytime sleepiness. These sleeping benefits can also improve the chances of heart disease, psychiatric disorders, and metabolic dysfunction. Not to mention the muscle build-up you can get from bike riding as well. You will be working your quads, hamstrings, and glutes. Bike riding will also improve strength in your back muscles and boost your cardio fitness. The ride will be 10 miles long with a break at the halfway point.
We will be practicing social distancing, and face masks are required.
We will meet up by the UHD Cycling Sign (by Jesse Jones Gym) at 6:30 pm and ride out at 7:00 pm. You are encouraged to bring water bottles and light snacks. Please RSVP if you would like to participate as we use that to base our headcount before leaving.
