Event description

Description

Can you feel the call within? It’s time to honor our roots and rise up for our healing.

Our grandmothers knew what was up. They knew what tools to implement for healing and they have always been spot on! Here’s the thing; that healing knowledge isn't lost with our grandmothers. It's in us and we can carry their medicine forward. I’ve spent the last 8 years doing countless hours of historical, scientific and anthropological research into our healing tools and have been continuously blown away by what I’ve found. While in Naturopathic medical school and Acupuncture school, it became important to me to marry the knowledge of our elders with clinical research and science since both systems are in conversation with each other. Now, I’ve put the info together into a high-value 2 hour workshop where you can learn these healing tools and walk away knowing how to use them in your daily life!

Come learn the medicine of our grandmother’s grandmother’s grandmothers. Come learn the healing tools of nature passed down from generation to generation. Come to get empowered to activate your own healing and your community’s healing!

This educational and experiential workshop will introduce you to the sociocultural and medicinal properties of herbal medicine commonly used by Haitians, the Haitian diaspora, and the greater Afro-Caribbean community, in addition to the clinical scientific research behind them, what they are used for, and how to use them. The material will be presented in a way that everyone can understand and follow. The first hour of this workshop will be discussion-based while the second hour will be hands-on, where you’ll get to make and enjoy your own custom tea blend using high quality, organic medicinal herbs at the tea bar, curated by yours truly.

Here's what you'll learn:

  • Essential information on the top 10 healing herbs used by Haitians and the Haitian diaspora...

  • The names of these powerful Haitian herbs in English, Haitian Kreyol, and Latin...

  • How you can use these healing Haitian herbs in your day to day for self-care…

  • The energetic properties of these Haitian herbs and how to incorporate them into your wellness practice...

  • What Haitian herbs will help you to stay healthy throughout the seasons, boost your immunity, give you a super dose of vitamins and minerals, support heart health, etc...

  • What Haitian herbs you can use to replace toothpaste, keep mosquitos away, enhance hair growth, etc….

  • The BIG role that certain herbs play in Haitian history...

This workshop is for you if:

  • You’re a student of life craving valuable and important information...

  • You’re a Haitian millennial like me, who feels super connected to our beautiful culture...

  • You want to introduce more self-care into your daily wellness routine...

  • You're a healer (nurse, doula, massage therapist, etc.) and want to incorporate herbal medicine safely into your clinical work...

  • You’re a parent wanting to learn about natural healing practices to incorporate into your family's holistic wellness...

  • You want to heal yourself, each other and our world...

All materials will be provided for you, so just show up open, ready and willing to learn and to explore!

Come as you are. Come rest and unwind. Come connect with yourself and community. Come celebrate our collective genius and activate our collective joy. There will be music, incense, candles, community, and good vibes all around.

I can’t wait to see you there!

Warmly,

Dr. Naika
