About this event
As part of the Bay Area Science Festival, the San Francisco Department of Environment in partnership with San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department and SF Children and Nature invites you to roll up your sleeves to take climate action and steward our San Francisco parklands.
This event is intended to bring together Bay Area youth and connect them to nature. We welcome youth ages 6+ to volunteer alongside accompanied adults or family members.
Throughout the day, participate in beautifying your local park. Healing Our Land and Communities: San Francisco Youth Take Climate Action is an event part of a City-wide Youth Service Day. We will host climate-focused service projects and lead Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) focused activities including habitat restoration (e.g. removing invasive plants), park beautification (e.g. litter clean up, planting native plants, and historical and plant information session) and hands-on nature family play activities. Families will go on a scavenger hunt to find plants and animals and learn their historical roots.
