Event description

Description

Join the Dispute Resolution Center, Ypsilanti District Library, & the Interfaith Council for Peace & Justice for a film screening and community conversation about the documentary, “Healing Justice.” It examines the impact of trauma, redefines justice within the criminal and juvenile justice systems, and moves us toward empathy, reconciliation, and healing to bring about social and transformative change.

We hope this event will raise awareness around the issues of the criminal justice system and the school-to-prison-pipeline with an emphasis on affected youth from marginalized and vulnerable communities. We also hope this shows you how restorative approaches help to rehabilitate and change lives.

Through a panel discussion and community conversation, we also want our community to think about the systemic racial and socioeconomic issues that are at the core of why many individuals are suffering from various forms of trauma and how, historically, punitive measures have done more harm than good.

Light dinner will be provided.

Free and open to the public.
