Event description

Description

In 1994 Rwanda experienced a horrific genocide; a dark event which has been woven into the identity of the nation. But out of the darkness, light and hope have emerged. Individuals have risen above their trauma to become peace practitioners in their communities. Their stories of pain and loss have become testimonies of healing and hope; they have become voices of reconciliation and mediators of truth and justice.

After attending the Healing Hearts, Transforming Nations (HHTN) workshop, thousands of lives have been transformed, communities have been changed and churches have taken steps towards becoming agents of healing and reconciliation.

As Rwanda began healing, the nation also became a source of healing for the surrounding countries. Today workshops have also been conducted in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and nations of the former Soviet Union

This is a three day participatory workshop co-sponsored by Resonate Global Mission, Healing the Nations and Rabagirana Ministries. See below for more information on these ministries and for a map to the venue. Because this workshop is a process and each session builds on the previous one, we strongly recommend all attendees be present for the entire event. If you would like more details about the process and goals of the workshop, or any other information, please email gdevuyst@crcna.org.

Testimonies

“The HHTN workshop and training I attended in Kiev, Ukraine in 2017 was life changing. I recommend it to all the organizations I work with. I would highly recommend this workshop for ANYONE, not just those who have
had trauma but especially those. It was a wake up call for me but also brought healing to me in areas of my life I did not know of. My ministry was changed because of my attendance and I had been in ministry 40 years at the time.” - Dave Brooks, Wycliffe Global Alliance, SIL, Wycliffe Bible Translators USA, Mission to the World, PCA

“It was such a privilege to sit under the teaching of Dr. Rhiannon Lloyd at a recent conference in Kosovo. Born and raised in South Africa, and now pastoring a church in Kansas City, I have witnessed firsthand the pain and suffering caused by a lack of a Biblical understanding of how God views all people groups. America is facing an unprecedented challenge in this generation, and God has uniquely equipped Dr. Lloyd with a powerful and timely ministry of reconciliation. I encourage all pastors and Christian leaders to pray about the need for reconciliation and to invite Dr. Lloyd to be used by God in your city.” - Athol Barnes, Senior Pastor Grace Pointe Baptist Church, Kansas City, Missouri

“I highly recommend this approach to transformational healing, having witnessed and experienced the power of this workshop in Rwanda, and seen firsthand both the miraculous healing of wounded and broken hearts, and the restoration of trust and community. Come and learn how you and your faith community can become a safe space for healing grace here in our own divided and too-ofen embittered land!” - Rev. Suzi Harriff, World Parish Pastor, American Baptist, Presbyterian and United Methodist Churches

"I'm grateful to God for the healing and reconciliation ministry of Rev. Joseph Nyamutera and Rabagirana Ministries. This life-giving good and godly work is mission critical to healing the wounded hearts and estranged relationships that disable the faith, hope, and love of God's people. My prayer is that the mustard seed of this wonderful work will grow new life and transform the world." - Larry Thomas, Interim Pastor, Sammamish Hills Lutheran Church, Sammamish, Washington

Workshop Facilitators

Dr. Rhiannon Lloyd, a former doctor of medicine and psychiatry, has been in full time Christian work since 1985 ministering extensively in cross-cultural situations. She spent many years teaching courses for Christian workers and ministering to people with deep emotional wounds. Since 1994, she has pioneered a reconciliation ministry in Rwanda, working initially with African Enterprise. She has spoken to thousands of church leaders leading them to a place of healing at the cross and facilitating reconciliation between the ethnic groups. Healing and reconciliation teams have now been formed in many other countries. She lives in Wales and her ministry is called “Healing the Nations”.

Rev. Joseph Nyamutera joined this ministry in 1997. Though based in Rwanda, he now has a world-wide ministry. He is specially gifted as a trainer and consultant.
