Event description
An Introduction to the NeuroAffective Relational Model™ for Healing Attachment, Relational and Developmental Trauma

About this Event

The NeuroAffective Relational Model™ (NARM™) is a powerful theoretical and clinical model for navigating the complexities of relational, developmental, and attachment trauma. NARM™ is an integrative approach that offers a coherent model for working with complex trauma, and works with the link between psychological issues and the body. It is both a psychodynamic and nervous system/somatically-based approach designed to help build clients’ capacity for self-regulation and interpersonal connection.

We are excited to be returning to Chicago in July 2019 to offer another year-long NARM Therapist Training.

If you are curious about the training or would like to learn more about NARM™, join us in Pallatine, Illinois at Harper College on Friday, June 21, 2019 for a day-long Introduction to NARM™ Workshop: 10:30 am - 4:30 pm with Bianka Hardin, PsyD .

Event Presenter: Bianka is a NARM Therapist, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Professor at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and owner of Centered Therapy Chicago, LLC. Bianka founded CTC in 2014 with the mission to help children, adolescents, and adults improve their mental health and quality of life. She provides therapy, supervision, and consultation services. Bianka has worked with trauma survivors since 1997 using a relational model of treatment. She felt something was missing in her work with trauma survivors and while exploring various treatment modalities, learned about Somatic Experiencing and has found great value in incorporating the wisdom of the body into her work. She has enjoyed being a body-oriented therapist and wondered how she could merge psychodynamic and relational psychotherapy with SE. She found the answer when she started her NARM training. Bianka is now a NARM therapist and excited to be a part of the NARM training team.

What you will learn:

  • Overview of NARM’s theoretical and clinical approach to developmental trauma
  • NARM’s roots in the fields of somatic psychology, psychodynamic psychology, and interpersonal neurobiology
  • The distinction between shock and developmental trauma
  • The pitfalls of working with all forms of trauma without recognizing the complex developmental themes running in the background
  • NARM’s 5 early adaptive survival styles, their corresponding identity distortions, & how they affect adult life
