Description

This 2.5 day workshop will include a full educational and experiential training to help Birth workers find healing within themselves to resolve interpersonal conflict, manage stress, resolve distress surrounding personal adverse life experiences, and distress surrounding secondary trauma experienced through birth work. This workshop will be limited to 12-15 participants, and participants will be expected to engage in personal healing work in order to receive the maximum benefit from he training. The facilitator will include one 60-90 minute personal trauma assessment that may be scheduled at the workshop between group sessions or used anytime within 12 months after the training.

Learning Objectives

:1. Participants will demonstrate understanding of the neuroscientific theory of Adaptive Information Processing, neurointegration, preverbal and attachment trauma, and applications to difficulties in professional and personal relationships that re-create traumatic exposure, and increase chances of secondary trauma resulting in partial or full PTSD through classroom discussion and group experiential exercises.

2. Participants will demonstrate knowledge of healthy boundaries in relationships through describing attachment theory, Karpman's-Drama triangle, and identifying ethical concerns within professional provider-client and provider-student relationships through mapping out their Family-social geniogram, and identifying where their family and social systems tend to fall on the circle of moderation describing functional and dysfunctional relationship dynamics

3. Client's will discuss their experiences utilizing the resourcing skills discussed and practiced during the workshop and describe how using the desensitization of distress to past experiences during exercises and group process will help them to continue to improve their wellbeing, develop healthy boundaries in professional settings, and avoid burnout. Outline the content for this session, including number of minutes for each topic:
