This training is open to all Head Start Pre-K 3 Teachers and Teacher Assistants and comes at a first come-first served basis. Please register by Wednesday, November 30, 2016.
The S.T.E.M training will be facilitated by the Newark Museum from 12:30 pm - 3:00 pm and located at the musuem at 49 Washington St., Newark, NJ 07104
S.T.E.A.M. will be presented by Newark Museum at the museum at 49 Washington St., Newark, NJ 07104. Free lot parking is available for all attendees; however carpooling is recommended.
Newark Museum will provide techniques on Handling Objects, Visual Thinking Strategies, Hands on projects and discussion on the Outreach programs, Inquiry and Deeper Looking Activities while exploring the following galleries:
Transportation: Discover the various ways that people get from place to place in their communities. The Museum’s artwork helps to discover how there are many ways to explore the world through transportation.
Native America: Observe Native American art in newly redesigned and renovated spaces within the Museum’s American Art galleries while comparing and contrasting the lifestyle of the Plains and Southwest Native Americans.
Maker: The MakerSPACE at the Newark Museum is all about celebrating the work of artists and makers whose imagination and creativity are evident in the world around us. Gallery explorations provide opportunities for reflection and inspiration and our studio/ workshop programs encourage experimentation with simple tools, materials, and technology.
Following this training, Newark Museum is providing on-site outreach to all Head Start schools; and is also providing free trips to the Newark Museum to be coordinated by the individual schools.
